I love In-N-Out. This is no In-N-Out.
I came here on a recommendation from my brother back in the states to give this place a try. I read up on this place and the fact that its opened by a former location manager that ran an In N Out.
What I order in the states:
Double Double, Animal Style, Extra Lettuce, Extra Tomato, Chopped Chilis.
Here, its Combo B: the Cali Double, Wild Style. No option for the other things, but they do allow you to add things like bacon for over $1 USD more. (Yes, there is room for customization but I wanted to get as close to the states as possible.) Fries, and drink (basically Sprite or Coke).
Total came out to $11.50 USD. Which is a lot of money for what you get versus the other fabulously delicious foods to choose from nearby.
The burger itself looked bigger, and more impressive. The meat patties are actually bigger or not as compressed as that in the states. They simply didn’t get the sauce right though. Overall the burger was more sweet, and less salty.
The fries were maybe a copy of the fries In-N-Out had 2 years ago – which is to say, not good. And I would have called and complained about them. The potatoes are simply not the same, and the quality of the frying leaves them quite greasy and oily. I like the fries In-N-Out produces now.
I feel cheated. This is easily the most expensive single meal I’ve had so far this month in Taiwan and its maybe 50% there, and easily twice as expensive as In-N-Out. If you are a big In-N-Out fan, skip this. Not worth it, and not the same.
Still, the burger was decent; just that for the money, I could done a lot better for two meals versus just OK for one. They offer a variety of other items that will probably never make it on an In-N-Out menu that are worth checking out. Still, CaliBurger was advertised as California food and lifestyle. Speaking as a true Californian, I feel jipped.
